Who is in the set
Thirteen in the Little Princess crochet doll set: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel and Ariel Mermaid, Belle, Jasmine, Mulan, Pohoncas, Merida, Rapunzel, Tiana and Alice.
Thirteen skirts, thirteen problems
Every princess is defined by her skirt, and no two are built the same way. Some flare from the waist and have to hold that flare without stiffening; one is a tail rather than a skirt; another is layered in two colours. The bodies are close to identical and the skirts are where the work goes.
Hair is the second half
Straight, coiled, very long, or cropped — each needs a different method, and the very long one is the slowest doll in the set by a wide margin.
Collecting thirteen
Nobody buys thirteen dolls at once. The pattern does not change between orders, so the set can be built over years and still stand evenly — provided every doll is ordered at the same size. Pick that size first.
Where they come from
Thirteen princesses out of the stories most people met before they could read. Each was designed to be identified at a distance, in silhouette, by children who could not yet follow dialogue.
That design decision is what makes them crochet well. A doll cannot carry a face across a room, but it can carry a skirt shape and a hair colour, which is all these characters ever needed.
