Two very different dolls
The Kiff-Barry crochet doll set is two characters — Kiff and Barry — and almost nothing about their construction is shared. One is small and round, the other tall and narrow, so the set carries no repeated silhouette at all.
Why the pair reads well
Sets of similar dolls need colour to separate them. This one does not: put the two side by side and the difference is structural, which is why they photograph well together and why people who buy one usually come back for the other.
Same size, or not
Ordered at the same size the height difference between them still shows, because it is built into the patterns rather than into the sizing. There is no need to mix sizes to get the contrast.
Which size
10 inches is the usual choice for the pair. At 6 the narrower doll loses some of its face detail before the rounder one does.
Where they come from
A squirrel with far more enthusiasm than judgement and her unshakeably calm rabbit best friend, getting through school together and causing most of their own problems.
The two are drawn as opposites on purpose — one compact and busy, one tall and unbothered — and the dolls keep that. It is the reason the pair works without matching colours.
