Who is in the set

Two palettes in one set
Half of this set is warm and half is not, and that is the point — the living side is worked in reds and creams, the other in cooler bone and violet. Sitting together on a shelf the two groups read as two places, which is unusual for a crochet set and is why this one is so often bought whole rather than one doll at a time.
Faces without hard edges
The skull markings are embroidered in, not appliquéd on top. Stitched into the fabric they stay soft and they stay put; a patch sewn over the surface would lift at the edges within a year of handling. It is slower and it is the reason this set still looks right after being moved around.
Which size
The embroidery needs room. At 6 inches the markings are simplified; at 10 and above each face carries its full detail. For a display set, 12 inches is where this one looks best.
Where they come from
